Job Summary

As the Director of Solution Architecture, you will provide a range of consulting services to Curoverse customers for the evaluation, planning, development and implementation of Arvados-based solutions, to enable the scientific missions of our customers. You will initiate, lead, and project manage consulting projects for Curoverse customers, as well as work collaboratively with other Curoverse colleagues to provide IT, bioinformatics, and organizational solutions that best fit customers’ requirements.

The ideal candidate will work with senior executives at customers to develop technical strategies, manage conflicts, and ensure customer success. At the same time, you should be able to roll up your sleeves and work on specific technical problems. Finally, we’re looking for someone with very strong technical project management and leadership skills, including the ability to build and lead cross-functional teams. Experience in high performance computing, storage, networking, DevOps, cloud solutions, and/or system administration will all be essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish and manage relationships with executive and technical leadership at customers to oversee and drive the successful completion of cluster implementation and system integration projects. 
  • Leads the planning, development, and writing of project proposals with Curoverse and customer stakeholders
  • Leads the design and implementation of advanced cluster computing solutions integrated with HPC systems or deployed on cloud infrastructures
  • Manages multi-functional project teams, including assembling resources, planning and scheduling work, resolving problems as they arise, and delivering successfully
  • Manages projects to achieve on-time, on-budget performance and manage customer expectations, including proactively handling project changes and interventions to achieve project goals and objectives
  • Contributes to the development of Curoverse technologies, including Arvados, through input based on real-world customer experience with the technologies

Education and/or Experience

  • Extensive experience as an IT consultant managing the delivery of major projects
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex customer engagements and conflicts
  • Hands-on experience implementing and operating large scale HPC systems 
  • Real-world experience implementing projects for cloud computing environments
  • Proven skills in complex IT project management and multi-functional team leadership
  • Experience with computing for genomics and bioinformatics is welcome but not required
  • Experience with system integration, coding, and Linux system administration 

Additional Information

  • Will be expected to travel between 25-50%, including day and overnight travel
  • Must be currently authorized to work in the United States
